Horacia Naidoo

I am currently a PhD student in the Human Genetics department. My project, supervised by Professor Raj Ramesar and Dr Hannah Simonds, will focus on anthracycline-induced cardiotoxicity in breast cancer and childhood cancer patients. My academic career so far has focused on individualised patient treatment and has been reflected in my Honours degree which focused on refined clinical guidelines pertaining to the diagnosis and management of Down Syndrome patients (Naidoo et al, 2011) as well as my Masters degree which focused on elucidating the prognostic value of NPM1 and FLT3 mutations in patients with acute myeloid leukaemia. These degrees as well as my BSc were completed at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Project Title: “The Genetics of Anthracycline-Induced Cardiotoxicity in Breast Cancer Patients”
