Lindiwe Lamola

I joined the Division of Human Genetics (UCT) in 2009 for BSc. (Med) Honours and completed MSc. (Med) in June of 2012. Between 2012 and 2013 I enrolled in the NRF/DST internship program (within the Division), this internship provides an opportunity learn and work on a number of projects that the Division of Human Genetics is involved with. In addition, during the internship-training period I was privileged to register with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an intern Medical scientist in the discipline of Genetics. I am currently enrolled for a PhD and my research looks into investigating the genetic factors underlying development of cancer.

Project Title: “Genetic features underlying initiation of Neoplasia in Constitutional mismatch repair deficiency (CMMR-D) syndrome”
